Pakistan has strongly criticized recent provocative statements by Indian leaders, calling them reflective of a dangerous mindset that favors hostility over regional peace. The Foreign Office (FO) issued a sharp rebuttal following inflammatory remarks from Indian officials, including a May 29 statement by India’s External Affairs Ministry spokesperson demanding Pakistan “hand over” Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
FO spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan dismissed India’s allegations as baseless, stating, “Any attempt to portray Pakistan as the source of regional instability is divorced from reality.” He highlighted India’s history of aggression, including documented support for terrorism in Pakistan, and stressed that such facts “cannot be obscured by hollow narratives or diversionary tactics.”
Reiterating Pakistan’s stance, Khan emphasized that Kashmir remains a “core issue threatening regional peace” and vowed to pursue a just resolution in line with UN Security Council resolutions and Kashmiri aspirations. He warned that India’s “jingoism and coercion” were counterproductive, adding that Pakistan remains committed to dialogue while firmly defending its sovereignty.
“Peace requires maturity, restraint, and addressing root causes of conflict,” he concluded, urging India to abandon its confrontational approach.
