The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will commence a red-ball training camp at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore on Tuesday, 9 September. The camp, designed to prepare players for the upcoming international and domestic red-ball season, will run for 20 days until 28 September. Eleven cricketers have been selected to participate, focusing on those not currently involved in the ongoing Hanif Mohammad Trophy four-day tournament.
Interim red-ball head coach Azhar Mahmood will oversee the camp, supported by NCA coaches and staff. The program aims to help players refine their skills and assess their fitness ahead of a busy schedule. Participants will engage in intensive training sessions and scenario-based matches to simulate real-game conditions.
The selected players, listed in alphabetical order, include notable names such as Babar Azam, Abdullah Shafique, and Kamran Ghulam. The full roster comprises Abdullah Shafique, Ali Raza, Azan Awais, Babar Azam, Kamran Ghulam, Mohammad Ali, Mohammad Huraira, Mohammad Salman, Rohail Nazir, Sajid Khan, and Shamyl Hussain. All participants are required to report to the NCA on Monday, 8 September.
This camp underscores the PCB’s commitment to strengthening Pakistan’s red-ball cricket infrastructure, ensuring players are well-prepared for future challenges. The focus on skill development and fitness assessment highlights the board’s strategic approach to maintaining competitive excellence in Test cricket.
