Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has called for Palestine’s full membership in the United Nations, a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, and unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid. Addressing a high-level UN conference co-hosted by Saudi Arabia and France, Dar condemned Israel’s relentless attacks, stating that the targeting of civilians, hospitals, and aid convoys has violated all norms of international law. “This collective punishment must stop now,” he declared.
Dar welcomed recent recognitions of Palestinian statehood by European nations, including France, urging other countries to follow suit. He emphasized that Gaza has become a “graveyard of international law,” with over 58,000 Palestinians killed—most of them women and children. “Israel’s actions are a blatant breach of UN resolutions and International Court of Justice rulings,” he said, demanding accountability.
Beyond political support, Pakistan pledged to assist Palestine in institutional development, offering expertise in public administration, health, and education. Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s readiness to collaborate with the Arab-OIC Plan and any international protection mechanism. “Justice delayed is justice denied,” he stated, warning that prolonged occupation threatens regional stability.
UN Secretary-General António Guterres opened the conference, stressing the urgency of a two-state solution. “The world must act now,” he said, condemning the devastation in Gaza. The conference, originally set for June, was delayed after Israel’s attack on Iran. Guterres called it a potential turning point, urging the international community to end the occupation and secure lasting peace for Palestine.
