According to documents released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, the country has witnessed a notable increase in its livestock population over the past year. The number of donkeys rose by 109,000, taking the total from 5.938 million to 6.047 million.
Buffaloes saw an even more substantial rise, increasing by 1.378 million within a year. Their total population now stands at 47.688 million, up from 46.310 million.
The number of sheep also increased by 388,000, raising the total from 32.731 million to 33.119 million. Meanwhile, goats recorded the largest jump among small ruminants, with an increase of 2.358 million, reaching a total of 89.393 million from 87.035 million.
Camels increased by 14,000, bringing their number to 1.177 million, up from 1.163 million. Horses rose by 1,000 to reach 383,000, and mules increased by 3,000 to a total of 227,000.
Additionally, the cattle population grew by 2.171 million over the year, bringing the total number of cattle from 57.540 million to 59.711 million, indicating a strong overall expansion in the livestock sector.
