LAHORE – The Pakistan Shaheens, under the leadership of Muhammad Irfan Khan, are set to leave for Darwin, Australia today to take part in the upcoming Top End T20 Series. The 11-team competition will run from 14 to 24 August and will feature strong domestic and ‘A’ teams from around the cricketing world.
In their opening clash, the Shaheens will take on Bangladesh ‘A’ in what is expected to be an intense encounter. The tournament aims to provide valuable exposure and competitive cricket to emerging players, offering them a platform to showcase their skills on an international stage.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced two changes to the original 15-member squad. Batter Haider Ali has been replaced by Mohammad Faiq following Haider’s temporary suspension on disciplinary grounds. In the bowling department, Mohammad Wasim Jnr has been included in place of left-arm pacer Salman Mirza.
The final squad for the tour includes: Muhammad Irfan Khan (captain), Abdul Samad, Ahmed Daniyal, Faisal Akram, Khawaja Mohammad Nafay (wicket-keeper), Maaz Sadaqat, Mehran Mumtaz, Mohammad Faiq, Mohammad Wasim Jnr, Muhammad Ghazi Ghori (wicket-keeper), Mubasir Khan, Saad Masood, Shahid Aziz, Ubaid Shah, and Yasir Khan. The team will be aiming for a strong showing in Darwin to build momentum for future assignments.
