Pakistan women’s cricket captain Fatima Sana has vowed to maintain her team’s winning momentum as they gear up for the upcoming T20 International series against Ireland. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced a 15-member squad for the three-match series, set to take place in Dublin from August 6 to 10. Sana, who led Pakistan to an unbeaten streak in the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifiers earlier this year, expressed optimism about the team’s readiness despite differing playing conditions.
Reflecting on their recent success, Sana stated, “Our Qualifiers campaign went well, and we are entering this series with confidence.” She emphasized her personal commitment to contributing in all aspects of the game—batting, bowling, and fielding. Meanwhile, opener Muneeba Ali acknowledged the shift in formats but assured that the team is working on both T20 and 50-over strategies ahead of the World Cup.
The squad recently concluded an intensive 27-day training camp in Karachi, focusing on skill enhancement and fitness. A final preparatory camp will run from July 28 to August 2 before the team departs for Ireland. Following this tour, Pakistan will host South Africa for a three-match series in Lahore in September, serving as a crucial warm-up for the World Cup.
The ICC Women’s World Cup, scheduled from September 30 to November 2, will see Pakistan playing their matches in Sri Lanka under a hybrid model due to political tensions with India. Key fixtures include a high-stakes encounter against India on October 5, followed by matches against Australia, England, and other top teams. With a mix of experienced players and rising talent, Pakistan aims to make a strong impression on the global stage.
