Pakistan’s military thwarted a major infiltration attempt by 30 terrorists linked to an “Indian proxy” group near the Pak-Afghan border in North Waziristan. According to the ISPR, the militants—belonging to the banned TTP, designated as Fitna al Khawarij—were detected and engaged on the nights of July 2-3. The operation resulted in all 30 terrorists being killed, with security forces recovering weapons, explosives, and ammunition.
The ISPR commended the troops’ professionalism, calling the preemptive strike crucial in averting a “potential catastrophe.” It also called on Afghanistan to prevent its territory from being exploited by foreign proxies for attacks against Pakistan. The military reiterated its resolve to defend the country’s borders and eradicate terrorism.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif lauded the armed forces, with Zardari vowing to continue operations until terrorism is fully eliminated. PM Sharif praised the military as a “solid wall” protecting the nation, while citizens nationwide expressed solidarity with the security forces.
This operation follows a surge in terror activities, particularly in KP and Balochistan, since the TTP ended its ceasefire in late 2022. Recent data from PICSS highlights escalating violence, with May alone recording 85 attacks and 113 deaths. The latest success underscores Pakistan’s zero-tolerance stance against terrorism and its commitment to regional stability.
