Pakistani Squash Stars Reach Asian Doubles Final After Thrilling Win Over Malaysia

Pakistan’s top squash players, Nasir Iqbal and Noor Zaman, have advanced to the men’s final of the 2nd Asian Doubles Squash Championship following a hard-fought 2-1 victory over hosts Malaysia in the semi-finals. The match, held at Jalan Stadium in Sarawak, saw the Malaysian pair of Duncan Lee and Syafiq Kamal take the first set 11-10. However, the Pakistani duo bounced back in spectacular fashion to claim the next two sets 11-9 in a tense 69-minute encounter.

The win sets up an exciting final clash against India, scheduled to take place tomorrow. This marks another milestone for Pakistan in international squash, as Iqbal and Zaman continue to make their country proud. Their journey to the finals included a dominant 2-1 win over Korea in the quarter-finals, which they wrapped up in just 37 minutes.

Both players have been in impressive form recently. Earlier this month, they competed in the 23rd Asian Individual Squash Championships, where Iqbal defeated Hong Kong’s Lai Cheuk Nam to reach the quarter-finals. Zaman, meanwhile, narrowly lost to Malaysia’s Joachim Chuah in a five-set thriller during the pre-quarterfinals.

Zaman has been particularly outstanding this year, having clinched the U23 World Squash Championship title in April after a stunning comeback against Egypt’s Karim El Torkey. With such strong performances, the Pakistani duo will be looking to add another trophy to their growing list of achievements. The nation eagerly awaits their final showdown against India!
