Patient Alleges Negligence at Malir Eye Hospital, Loses Eyesight After Surgery

Malir(Correspondent) Alleged negligence during surgery at Al-Ibrahim Eye Hospital in Malir has left a young man from Larkana, Ghulam Murtaza Abro, completely blind in both eyes. The affected youth has filed a petition against the hospital administration in the Malir Court, which has summoned the management on September 22.

At an urgent press conference held at the Awami Press Club Malir, Ghulam Murtaza Abro presented documents, including medical reports, petitions submitted to Malir Court, letters written to the Governor of Sindh, and other evidence. He stated that three months ago, he drove from Larkana to Memon Goth for treatment at Al-Ibrahim Eye Hospital, where doctors performed a faulty operation that deprived him of his eyesight. The young man added that when the bandages were removed from his eyes, he realized he had lost his vision completely. Upon protesting, doctors asked him to return after two months for another surgery. However, even after the second surgery, his eyesight could not be restored.

Fighting back tears at the press conference, Abro said, “Losing my eyesight has destroyed my youth.” He further revealed that he sought check-ups at Aga Khan Hospital, NRBT Tando Allahyar, Chughtai Lab Defence, and Dr. Tayyab Rahman’s Hospital near Teen Talwar, where specialists confirmed that due to the wrong operation, the retinas of his eyes had ruptured and treatment was now only possible abroad.

He explained that he had already sold his car and other property, spending millions on treatment, but without success. Abro said he has filed a petition in Malir Court against the irresponsible doctors and hospital administration, with a hearing scheduled for September 22.

The young man appealed to the Chief Minister of Sindh, the Governor of Sindh, IG Sindh, SSP Malir, and the hospital management to send him abroad for treatment and accept responsibility for restoring his eyesight. Otherwise, he demanded strict action against those responsible.
