PM Shehbaz Praises President Trump’s Role in Ceasefire, Calls Him a Messenger of Peace

Islamabad – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has praised former U.S. President Donald Trump for his significant role in achieving a ceasefire, calling him a “messenger of peace.”

Speaking at a ceremony held at the U.S. Embassy, PM Shehbaz said there is no longer any doubt that the Pulwama incident was a false flag operation by India. Despite rising tensions, Pakistan displayed restraint and maturity. He added that President Trump has consistently stood against both hot and cold wars, and his efforts toward de-escalation are commendable.

The Prime Minister highlighted that Trump not only advocated peace but also worked to enhance economic ties, making his efforts truly admirable. He also thanked other friendly nations that played a role in reducing tensions and supporting the ceasefire between Pakistan and India.

PM Shehbaz confirmed that the ceasefire between Pakistan and India is currently holding. Recalling the post-9/11 global war on terror, he noted that Pakistan had effectively eliminated terrorism by 2018, though at a tremendous cost—over 90,000 lives lost and economic damages exceeding $150 billion.

He reiterated Pakistan’s call for an impartial international investigation into the Pulwama incident, a proposal which India rejected by launching attacks that also harmed civilians, including women and children. In response, Pakistan downed six Indian jets in self-defense.

Concluding his remarks, PM Shehbaz emphasized Pakistan’s focus on economic development and ongoing efforts to enhance trade with the U.S., including addressing tariff issues. He expressed optimism about a new era in Pakistan-U.S. relations, grounded in democratic values and mutual respect for constitutional rule.
