PMDC Clarifies MDCAT 2025 Fee Hike – Only 12.5% Increase, Not 80%!

The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has refuted claims that the Medical and Dental Colleges Admission Test (MDCAT) 2025 registration fee has surged by 80%, clarifying that the actual increase is only 12.5%. In an official statement, the council confirmed that the fee has been raised from Rs8,000 to Rs9,000, attributing the adjustment to rising operational costs.

PMDC announced that MDCAT 2025 registration is now open, with the test scheduled for Sunday, October 5. Contrary to circulating misinformation, the council emphasized that the fee has seen a modest and gradual increase over the years, keeping affordability in mind.

While PMDC will not directly administer the test, it has designated several universities, including University of Health Sciences (Lahore), Sukkur IBA, Khyber Medical University (Peshawar), Bolan University (Quetta), and Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University (Islamabad) to conduct the exam. Additionally, an international test center in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, will facilitate overseas candidates.

The council explained that the revised fee helps cover expenses such as printing, security, logistics, staff payments, and facility upgrades. Despite inflation, PMDC reaffirmed its commitment to fair, transparent, and merit-based admissions, ensuring equal opportunities for all medical aspirants. A standardized syllabus and question bank have also been introduced in consultation with provincial stakeholders to maintain uniformity across the exam.
