GHOTKI: Sumeera Rajput, a TikTok content creator with over 58,000 followers, was found dead at her residence in Bago Wah, Ghotki district, police confirmed on Friday. According to District Police Officer Anwar Shaikh, Rajput’s 15-year-old daughter claimed that her mother had been poisoned by individuals pressuring her into a forced marriage.
Investigation Underway
The body was shifted to a local hospital for a post-mortem examination. Medical Superintendent Dr. Sarwanand stated that while initial reports showed no signs of physical violence, samples had been sent for further forensic analysis to determine the exact cause of death. Police have detained two suspects for questioning, but no FIR has been registered yet.
A Disturbing Trend
This incident follows the recent murder of 17-year-old TikToker Sana Yousaf, who was shot dead in her Islamabad home last month. Yousaf, who had 740,000 followers, was killed in front of her aunt. Islamabad Police arrested the suspect, Umar Hayat (Kaka), within 20 hours of the crime.
Calls for Stronger Protections
These cases highlight the growing risks faced by female content creators in Pakistan. Activists demand stricter laws and better enforcement to ensure the safety of women, both online and offline. Authorities must take immediate action to prevent such tragedies in the future.
