Dadu:(Report: Abdul Qadir Mahesar) Daily-wage workers of the Public Health Engineering Operation and Maintenance Department staged a protest outside the Dadu Press Club under the leadership of Khadim Hussain Chandio, Acting President of the Public Health Engineering Welfare Association Sindh.
The protesters, holding placards and chanting slogans, demanded the removal of District Accountant Public Health Shah Nawaz Jatoi. They complained that salaries of 131 daily-wage workers had not been paid for the past two months despite verification and necessary approvals by engineers, assistant engineers, the assistant commissioner, and the deputy commissioner.
They further said that, according to government regulations, their salaries should be increased to Rs. 40,000, but this has not been implemented. Workers expressed that salary stoppage had caused severe financial hardship, leaving their families in distress.
They demanded immediate release of their salaries to end their anxiety and warned of expanding the protest if their demands were not met.
Those present at the protest included Aarib Chandio, Gulzar Ahmed Abro, Afzal Brahmani, Ehsan Laghari, and others.
