PTI urges Imran Khan’s release, seeks return to strategic decision-making table

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has sharply criticized the recent U.S. airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear sites, calling for an immediate all-parties conference (APC) to address the escalating crisis. PTI Information Secretary Waqas Akram warned that the government’s passive approach could prove disastrous as regional tensions reach a boiling point. He emphasized the need for Imran Khan’s inclusion in key decision-making processes, arguing that his leadership is vital in navigating the geopolitical storm.

The conflict took a dangerous turn after the U.S. and Israel launched coordinated strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities, marking the largest Western military action against Tehran since 1979. Akram accused Israel of instigating a wider war with U.S. backing, pointing to the attacks as a blatant violation of Iran’s sovereignty and the UN Charter. He cautioned that Pakistan, already facing economic and security challenges, cannot afford to remain indifferent to the unfolding crisis.

Akram praised Imran Khan’s political foresight, recalling his earlier warnings about Western interventionism. He referenced Khan’s parliamentary statement that Pakistan would partner with the U.S. in peace but not in war, citing the heavy toll of past alliances. The PTI leader also highlighted Khan’s recent decision to postpone protests due to the Iran-Israel conflict, underscoring his strategic understanding of global dynamics.

With the Middle East on the brink of a larger conflict, PTI urged the government to adopt a proactive and consensus-driven policy. Akram warned that Pakistan is “caught between a rock and a hard place,” requiring unified leadership to safeguard national interests. As the crisis deepens, the call for diplomatic over military solutions grows louder, with PTI positioning itself as a vocal advocate for regional stability.
