The Punjab government has announced the reinstatement of board examinations for Grade 8 students, reversing a years-long policy of discontinuation. The decision was finalized during a high-level meeting led by Punjab’s Education Minister, Rana Sikandar Hayat. He stated that a detailed action plan—covering syllabus design and administrative logistics—would be prepared within the next 30 days to ensure smooth implementation of the revived examination system.
Alongside this change, the meeting also focused on strengthening internal assessments for students in Grades 5 to 7. These exams will now be conducted as structured assessment tests to evaluate both student progress and teaching effectiveness. Minister Hayat emphasized that a formal framework for these internal evaluations would be developed within a month, ensuring a standardized approach across schools in the province.
While the Grade 5 scholarship examination remains suspended, authorities confirmed that internal assessments will be introduced to maintain consistent academic monitoring. The meeting also explored innovative measures to modernize education, including converting Matric and Grade 11 textbooks into video formats to support visual and interactive learning.
To guarantee uninterrupted academic activities, the minister directed officials to expedite the printing and verification of textbooks for the upcoming session. These reforms reflect the government’s broader efforts to enhance educational standards while adapting to evolving learning needs in Punjab.
