Ranipur Residents Protest Administration’s Neglect After Rainwater Floods Homes

Ranipur  (Report By Sajid Ansari) Residents of Ahmed Pur Mohalla in Ranipur, belonging to the Mirasai, Islami, and Mallah communities, staged a strong protest against the administration’s failure to drain out the stagnant rainwater. Dozens of men, women, and children came out of their homes to join the demonstration. Speaking to the media, locals said that despite several days passing, the Town Committee Ranipur administration has taken no action. As a result, rainwater has entered their houses, and many homes have collapsed, causing destruction. They added that daily life has been completely paralyzed; even standing inside their homes has become difficult for women and children, while the risk of spreading diseases has increased. Protesters alleged that due to the negligence and incompetence of the Town Committee, the entire neighborhood is facing severe hardships, yet no official has visited them for relief. The residents made a strong appeal to the Chairman of Town Committee Ranipur, Pir Syed Suraj Dastagir Jelani, to take emergency measures and immediately drain the accumulated rainwater from their streets and homes. They warned that if their demands were ignored, they would expand their protest and stage sit-ins on main roads. Among the protestors were Kandhar Ustad Liaquat Ali Mirasai, Barkat Mirasai, Junaid Bhutt, Kazim Mallah, Arshad Mallah, Rashid Mallah, Zahid Mallah, along with many others. The demonstrators demanded urgent drainage of rainwater, restoration of the drainage system, and threatened to hold a strong protest outside the Town Committee Ranipur office if the situation was not resolved.
