Maintaining good oral health is vital for overall well-being, and regular dental check-ups play a crucial role in preventing complications. Dental Hygienist Muhammad Asad has urged the public to visit a dentist or registered dental hygienist at least once every six months to ensure optimal oral hygiene. In an exclusive interview with APP, Asad emphasized that routine consultations help detect and address potential issues early, reducing the risk of severe dental problems.
Alongside professional check-ups, Asad recommended brushing teeth twice daily to maintain healthy gums and teeth. He explained that while a toothbrush mechanically removes plaque, toothpaste provides additional protection against cavities and gum diseases due to its active ingredients. He highlighted four main types of toothpaste available—anti-cavity, whitening, sensitivity relief, and tartar-control—each designed for specific dental needs.
Asad stressed that only a qualified dental professional can recommend the most suitable toothpaste based on an individual’s oral condition. “Choosing the right toothpaste significantly impacts dental health,” he said, advising against self-selection without expert guidance. He further noted that regular six-month visits allow for early intervention, preventing minor issues from escalating into serious conditions.
Reiterating his advice, Asad said, “Using dentist-recommended toothpaste tailored to your needs—whether for sensitivity, plaque control, or decay prevention—is the best approach to oral care.” His recommendations underscore the importance of combining professional dental visits with proper at-home hygiene practices for long-term oral health.
