Reham Khan Announces Pakistan Republic Party, Vows to Champion Public Reforms

Reham Khan, the former wife of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, has officially entered the political arena with the launch of her new party—the Pakistan Republic Party (PRP). At a press conference held at the Karachi Press Club, she introduced the party’s logo and outlined its mission to bring genuine public representation to legislative bodies. Emphasizing a people-centric approach, she declared, “The whole of Pakistan is my constituency.”

Reham pledged to push for legal and policy reforms, particularly focusing on the rights of women and farmers. She criticized the current government’s governance style, stating that policies should reflect the struggles of ordinary citizens rather than elite interests. “Pakistan needs a system that works for the people, not against them,” she asserted, positioning her movement as a national mission rather than just a political venture.

Taking aim at the government’s reactive policies, Reham questioned why authorities only engage in dialogue after extreme public actions, such as traders’ strikes. “Why isn’t consultation done beforehand?” she asked, stressing the need for proactive governance. Later, on social media platform X, she invited supporters to join working groups, saying, “Let’s put our heads together & plan our future together. InshAllah.”

Reham married Imran Khan in 2014, but their union ended in divorce just 10 months later. In 2018, she published a controversial autobiography, “Reham Khan,” which detailed her personal and political experiences. Now, with the launch of PRP, she aims to carve her own path in Pakistan’s turbulent political landscape. Will her new party gain traction? Only time will tell.
