Sindh Government Steps In to Arrange Humaira Asghar Ali’s Burial Amid Family Refusal

The Sindh Culture Department has offered to oversee the burial and funeral rites of late actor Humaira Asghar Ali, following reports that her family has refused to claim her body. The 32-year-old actress and model was found dead in her Karachi apartment on Tuesday during a police eviction operation.

South DIG Syed Asad Raza confirmed that Ali’s family, particularly her father in Lahore, refused to take custody of her remains. However, her brother-in-law has since contacted authorities and is expected to arrive in Karachi to meet with police. If no legal heirs step forward, the police may release the body to members of the entertainment industry who have volunteered to arrange her burial.

Prominent actors, including Yashma Gill and Sonya Hussayn, have offered to organize Ali’s last rites. Meanwhile, Sindh Culture Minister Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah expressed distress over the situation, stating that the department is prepared to handle burial arrangements “with respect and in a dignified manner” in recognition of her contributions to Pakistani arts and culture.

In a formal notice to the South DIG, the Culture Department authorized Director-General Munawar Mahaser to complete legal formalities for the burial. The move underscores the government’s commitment to honoring artists, even in their final moments.

As the entertainment community mourns, the focus remains on ensuring Humaira Asghar Ali receives a proper farewell—whether by family, colleagues, or the state.
