KARACHI: The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP)-led Sindh government will unveil its provincial budget for the fiscal year 2025-26 today in the Sindh Assembly. The budget outlay is expected to exceed Rs1 trillion, with a proposed 10 to 20 percent salary increase for government employees and a Rs5,000 hike in the minimum wage for laborers. The budget will also include 481 new development schemes aimed at boosting infrastructure and public services across the province.
Significant allocations are planned for key sectors such as education, health, irrigation, and local government, with a special focus on mega development projects in Karachi, where the budget for such initiatives has increased dramatically from Rs1.38 billion to Rs21 billion. The development budget is set to rise from Rs493 billion to Rs520 billion, reflecting the government’s commitment to accelerating growth and improving living standards.
In addition to Sindh, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government will also present its budget today, with a total volume of Rs2,070 billion, including Rs114 billion earmarked for development projects. Both provincial budgets emphasize development and social welfare, aiming to address the needs of their populations through increased funding and new initiatives
