Tragic Attack on Passenger Bus in Balochistan’s Kalat Leaves 3 Dead, 7 Injured

At least three people were killed and seven others injured when unidentified assailants opened fire on a passenger bus in Balochistan’s Kalat district. The bus, traveling from Karachi to Quetta, came under attack in a shocking act of violence. Provincial government spokesperson Shahid Rind confirmed the casualties, stating that the injured were being treated at District Headquarters Hospital Kalat, where an emergency has been imposed.

Security forces, district administration, and rescue teams quickly arrived at the scene, cordoning off the area and initiating a search operation. Authorities are actively pursuing the attackers, though no group has yet claimed responsibility for the assault.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi strongly condemned the attack, accusing “Fitna-Al-Hindustan”—a term used by the government for terrorist groups in Balochistan—of targeting civilians. He described the attack as a “cowardly act” and alleged that India-backed militants were attempting to destabilize peace in the region.

This incident follows last week’s deadly attack in Zhob district, where nine passengers were abducted and killed. The repeated targeting of civilians has raised alarms over worsening security in Balochistan, prompting calls for stricter counter-terrorism measures.
