Mehar(Report Mujeeb Rahman Qambrani) The annual Urs of the famous shrine of Hazrat Makhdoom Saeedi Mosaani in Sindh has concluded. Despite the shrine being under the Awqaf Department, no official ceremony was held, and no government official or minister attended. However, the shrine’s caretaker, Sahib Dino Lund, along with his associates, initiated the Urs celebrations by laying a chador on the shrine.
During the Urs, the traditional Mehndi ritual was performed, led by Fakir Mehar Ali, in the presence of Fakir Sahib Dino. The Mehndi procession started from Shah Sadardin’s shrine and traversed through the main streets, culminating at the shrine of Saeedi Mosaani. A large number of devotees participated in the Mehndi ritual, chanting slogans and dancing to the rhythm of drums and sharnai.
A musical gathering was also held, featuring notable artists performing Sufi poetry. Additionally, a conference of scholars was organized at the Eidgah near the shrine, attended by a large crowd. Devotees from various cities in Sindh and other parts of the country flocked to the shrine to pay homage and participate in the Urs celebrations.
On this occasion, MPA Fayyaz Ali Butt, Awqaf Manager Abdul Hafeez Channo, and others attended the ceremony, laid a chador on the shrine, and offered prayers. Local party leaders, workers, and activists also participated in the event.
However, shopkeepers, citizens, and representatives of various social and political organizations expressed dissatisfaction with the arrangements, stating that the Urs was not celebrated at the government level, and there was a lack of lady police and security personnel. They also complained about the inadequate arrangements made by the SSP Dadu for security.
The Awqaf Manager, Abdul Hafeez Channo, stated that the Urs of Saeedi Mosaani is celebrated by the villagers, and he would form a committee comprising shopkeepers, religious leaders, and journalists to decide on a date for the Urs and write to the higher authorities to celebrate it at the government level next year. He acknowledged that the security arrangements were not satisfactory and promised to write to the authorities about it.
The Incharge of the shrine denied allegations of inadequate security arrangements and stated that a few lady police personnel were not provided despite being requested, but some women were deputed by the Awqaf Department to perform their duties.
Former Provincial Minister and MPA Fayyaz Ali Butt expressed hope that PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari would become the Prime Minister of the country, bringing prosperity to the nation. He assured that the complaints of the pilgrims would be addressed, and basic facilities would be provided to resolve the issues at the shrine.
The Urs celebrations continued till late night, with devotees from across the country attending and enjoying the festivities. After offering Fajr prayers, the pilgrims paid homage to the shrine and headed back to their respective areas.
