Malir (Reporter) A bus starter worker Akram Zehrani, who was abducted from Ghaghar Phatak within the jurisdiction of Steel Town Police Station, has been shown alive by bandits. The kidnappers sent a video to his family in which the victim is seen pleading helplessly for his release.Along with the video, the abductors issued threats, warning that Akram would be killed if their demands were not met. The kidnappers have demanded Rs 20 million in cash, two iPhones, and two Rado watches. The unusual demand for expensive electronic devices and luxury watches, in addition to cash, has sparked fear and shock among locals. The victim’s brother, Aslam Zehrani, said:
“We are poor laborers. Arranging millions of rupees is impossible for us. I appeal to the Sindh IG and Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah to take immediate steps to save my brother’s life.”Residents say Ghaghar Phatak and surrounding areas have increasingly become safe havens for bandits, with frequent incidents of kidnappings of passengers, workers, and ordinary citizens. Locals allege that police often limit themselves to registering reports without taking effective action to secure the release of abductees.Community leaders and residents have urged the Sindh IG, the Chief Minister, and the federal government to launch a strong crackdown against bandits, ensure the safe recovery of the hostage, and adopt a permanent strategy to curb the rising wave of kidnappings.
